It’s estimated that 4 out of every 5 women in the UK are wearing the wrong sized bra. Not only does a poorly-fitted bra look incredibly unflattering, it can also cause back and neck pain and damage the breast tissue. A well-fitting bra can do wonders for a woman’s confidence, making them appear thinner, make their clothes fit better and help them feel much more comfortable. Having a well-fitting bra is particularly important for women who wear big bras, as sagging, unsupported breasts can cause great pain and discomfort.
Every bra, even different styles from the same manufacturer, fits differently. So, how is it possible to tell if lingerie is a good fit? Here are some points to check:
Look for Bumps and Spillages
A well-fitting bra shouldn’t pinch or dig in anywhere. It shouldn’t create bumps or spillages in the breasts. If a bra digs in or causes discomfort, it’s a sign that it is the wrong size. If a bra creates spillages, try a style with a smaller back and larger cup size.
Check The Position of The Wires
When wearing an under wired bra, the wires should completely encase the breasts. They should provide support all around and not cut into the breasts at the front or sides. The center of the bra should also fit snugly against the body.
Look At The Back
A bra’s support should predominantly come from its back band. It should fit snugly without being restrictive. If the band rides up at the back, it’s a sign that it’s too big and will not support the breasts properly.
