Animals are curious beings, but over time issues can develop between them and mankind which can be difficult to deal with. While the dog has been embraced by people, the fox went along a completely different path. Still belonging to the candida family which includes the domestic dog, the wild fox has developed an evolutionary fear of humanity to such an extent where trying to have one as a pet would cause it such anxiety as to be considered cruel. However, with some instances of fox domestication being reported, many domestic dog-like characteristics have become apparent in the creature such as licking owners, mewing to be petted and begging for food, so it seems that they do have some aptitude for living alongside man. Unfortunately, the number of foxes that have experienced sustained domestication is significantly rarer.
With this in mind, caring for a dog can take on a different perspective. Environment plays a huge role, and if a dog was in the wild it would likely adapt to its surroundings in order to survive – essentially just like us. A pet store is a great source of often free advice when it comes to settling in a new dog to a new environment, so it is a good idea to contact them in the event of any problems. The next step is the vet, although there are also many good online guides to rearing a respectful and caring dog, depending on the issues. Providing a loving environment is always a first, however.
