At this time of year, people in Britain can start to feel a little down. The weather is miserable and the days are short. Also, the festive season has come to an end.
It’s common in January for consumers to try to make improvements in their lives and in some cases, this extends to their properties. By enhancing their homes, individuals may be able to boost their spirits.
Given the freezing temperatures being felt up and down the country, it’s no surprise that some of these shoppers will be investing in new multi-fuel or wood burning stoves.
Meanwhile, highlighting the impact the seasons can have on individuals, Anglian Home Improvements recently released research findings suggesting that people’s spirits are flagging. Of the consumers it polled, 28 per cent were feeling less happy than they were before the clocks went back. Also, 33 per cent revealed they had spent less time outdoors.
Nearly a quarter (23 per cent) were feeling more depressed, while 32 per cent of respondents noted they were finding it harder to get motivated. The study also found that 34 per cent of the people questioned were struggling to get up in the morning.
Responding to the findings, TV medical expert Dr Rob Hicks said: “It is well recognised that most people feel down from time to time during winter. Many actually suffer with seasonal affective disorder, a specific type of depression, thought to be caused by a lack of daylight, which leaves them depressed and lacking in motivation and energy.”
Investing in new wood burning or multi fuel stoves can help consumers ensure their homes are warm and comfortable during the colder months.
