These days, it is simple for managers to source assistance when it comes to creating ecommerce solutions that are mobile-friendly and bosses who do not make the most of this help may be missing out.
According to figures provided by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), almost one in five pounds made by UK firms last year came through online sales.
In its report Ecommerce and ICT activity, the organisation noted that web sales pulled in around £483 million to the British economy over the 12-month period. Meanwhile, ecommerce as a percentage of total sales revenues rose from 18 per cent in 2010 to 19 per cent last year.
The ONS revealed that the sector making the greatest use of internet transactions was wholesale, which made 31 per cent of the UK’s online sales from consumers and 40 per cent of its online sales revenues from businesses.
Also making strong use of internet sales was the manufacturing industry, which took 40 per cent of web sales to businesses.
Specifically regarding online consumer spending, the information and communication industry performed well, taking 16 per cent of the total. Retail firms and transport and storage organisations also performed well, respectively taking 14 per cent and ten per cent of the total.
Companies can now integrate online shop software into their business models with total ease and those enterprises that neglect to do so may miss out on trading opportunities. Particularly given the tough nature of the economic conditions being seen in the UK at present, this could prove disastrous in terms of firms’ long-term success.
