Firms that need new office space in the Glasgow area may welcome news that more is to be created. Recently, BAM Construct UK and the Scottish Government launched what they described as the “largest office development to be built outside of London in a number of years”.A £50 million funding package will see an empty building on Queen Street in the city center transformed into high-quality office and retail space and, when finished, it will be able to accommodate up to 1,500 workers. The development will span 20,000 square feet and it is due to be completed in 2015.
Construction on the new premises is to get underway in January and the move comes after a report outlined a demand in the Scottish city for new offices to help ensure it is able to compete with other UK locations.
Commenting on the project, deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “Significant city centre developments like today’s £50 million boost for Glasgow are central to stimulating economic growth across Scotland.
“This is absolutely imperative in these tough economic times. It is vital that we support opportunities for new business to help create new jobs and also encourage inward investment to Scotland.”
She added that the development will help Glasgow to attract firms from around the globe.
These days, managers tend to have plenty of choice when they are on the lookout for new office space to rent and as long as they know where to look, they shouldn’t struggle to find the ideal solutions for them.
