The reputation of the professional solder has been on a rising trend since the start of conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. In countries like the UK there is a huge outpouring of sympathy and respect for professional soldiers and a realization of the challenges and potential dangers that modern soldiering involves.
In fact, conflict is not just a feature of the Middle East and throughout the world there are brave soldiers who are working with the utmost professionalism and commitment to their profession. They face some abject challenges: terrorism, modern firearms and hostile environments.
There is no longer a uniform concept of warfare and it is radically multi-dimensional and unpredictable. Whilst in many ways the general population live in peace and security, for the solder the world can be a place filled with novel threats, dangers and unforeseen challenges.
One of the benefits for the solder in the modern day is that they have access to better quality body armour clothing. Body armour is an important feature of a solder’s equipment and is instrumental in maintaining safety, regardless of the specific purpose of the solder, be they infantry or peacekeeper.
Modern body armour uses highly advanced materials such as Kevlar™ and Dyneema™, which offers specific benefits like high energy absorption and UV resistance, delivering the protection that all professional solders deserve. Remember, in many ways it’s the professional solder we should thank for our enduring peace and security.
