There are many things that can affect how healthy your pet is. From the amount of exercise they receive to the type of food you offer them right through to how often you get checkups for your pet there will be numerous ways in which a pet’s health can suffer very quickly without the right attention.
Understanding how healthy your pet is will also be easy though, and remedying many problems or potential issues should also be as simple as getting the right food.
There are many warning signs that your dog might not be in the best of health and from particularly bad breath and changes in weight through to changes in temperament, there will be plenty of warning signs to look out for.
The first way to avoid major problems will be to get your dog regular checkups at the vet. Not only will your vet be able to tell you if there are any problems or are likely to be any in the near future, but they will also be able to suggest changes to diet and lifestyle that can nip such issues in the bud early on.
However, there are also ways to check the health of any puppy at home. A quick way to see if they are overweight will be to lightly press their side – if you cannot feel their ribs, it may well be time to change their food or lifestyle. Likewise, being sure to check for changes in habits or temperament, and even occasionally checking their stool for blood may well be enough to help you see if and when a health problem develops.
